Key Priorities

Healthcare

Ensuring continued access to publicly funded, quality healthcare. Improving patient outcomes by implementing and enforcing safe staffing ratios and safety standards. Advocating for universal drug, dental, vision, and mental health coverage and reducing barriers to receiving gender-affirming healthcare, mental health crisis support, addiction services, and non-emergency medical services. Supporting those in need by implementing around-the-clock mobile crisis support teams to provide non-emergent mental health support and health teaching to our most vulnerable populations.

Education

Ensuring that Canada continues to set the standard as the most educated country in the world with nationally standardized class size limits, STEM-based learning programs, hands-on training opportunities, subsidized apprenticeship programs, and improved mental health and counselling supports that will provide the youth of St. Catharines with the education, training, and skills required to succeed.

Housing

Advocating for universal rent control, increased regulations for short-term rentals, limitations on real estate speculators, and increased taxes on long-term vacant units. Increasing our housing supply by promoting area-appropriate densification and exploring alternative zoning and housing options that protect our greenspace and make St. Catharines an affordable, livable city.

Workers Rights

Protecting our workers by supporting pay equality, fair wages, and pro-worker legislation. Working with our unions to strengthen labour laws and safety standards. Opposing exploitative temporary work agencies and any attempt by government or employers to circumvent or limit the right to organize and bargain collectively.

Economic Growth

Empowering Canadians to support their local economy with enhanced product labeling laws that clearly indicate where the product was packaged, where the product was made, and where the ingredients and materials were sourced. Supporting our workers and families directly by giving preference to Canadian companies for all available contract bids. Investing in our community with innovative development and start-up funding and support programs to create local employment opportunities and reduce our reliance on external markets.

Human Rights

Protecting our community by strengthening anti-discrimination laws, improving accessibility standards, encouraging acceptance and diversity, and ensuring barrier-free access to gender-affirming healthcare, mental health services, and addiction and recovery resources. Implementing around-the-clock mobile crisis support teams to provide non-emergent mental health support and health teaching outside of the clinical setting to our most vulnerable populations.

Community Investment

Expanding recreational and educational youth programs locally, affordable childcare, and prioritizing sustainable green development.
