This ethereal, tarot-like design originated as one of nine woodcut engravings in The Apocryphal Delomelanicon, a book that is believed to have written by Lucifer himself. Before being burned to death with all of his works, Aristide Torchia secretly copied and published these nine engravings as illustrations in his De Umbrarum Regni Novem Portis in 1666. Three copies of this book survived the flames, and it is said that when combined, the three books contain the key to summoning the devil.
